The main task of the Sewerage Board of Limassol - Amathus (SBLA) is the construction, operation and maintenance of the public sewerage and stormwater drainage system of Greater Limassol Area and therefore to improve the hygienic and environmental conditions and the quality of life in the area.  The implementation and operation of the system has and is still contributing substantially in the economic activity in our city.

In 2006, the final implementation phase of the project has started with the expansion of the "Moni" Wastewater Water Treatment Plant. The plant is in full operation since 2008.  Other works include the expanding of the sewerage network of main and secondary pipelines, upgrading of the major facilities of the system such as pumping stations and the Sewerage Treatment Plant in Moni area and the construction of second Wastewater Treatment Plant in the West of Limassol Greater area and new pumping stations.

It also includes the extension of the storm water drainage system and construction of about four retention ponds so as to eliminate the flooding problems in some areas.

Our objecttives include the enhancing and promoting the use of renewable resources, such as re-use of recycled wastewater and biosolids and electricity generation through bio-gas re-use, covering 40% of the energy needs of the Sewerage Treatment Plant at Moni.

Initially our goal was to complete the sewerage network across the Greater Limassol Area by year 2013, but as a result of the current economic conditions, this target has been moved to 2021.  The total project cost of this phase, is expected to exceed EUR 360 million. Significant sewerage and drainage infrastructure projects have been implemented todate, worthing over EURO 250 million. These works are an irrefutable sample of culture and progress, covering basic needs of the community, helping to improve the quality of life and protecting public health as well as the environment.

We are looking forward for any feedback or suggestion regarding our website.
